Remember, remember...

The 5th of November is drawing closer. As our students know, in that day we celebrate that the "evil" Guy Fawkes tried to blow up the Parliament, and kill the King, but was successfully stopped.

Mr Guy Fawkes

People gather in the streets of many English cities to make bonfires, enjoy the fireworks and burn efigies of mr. Fawkes. But... was he really that bad? What did he want to do? Who was Guy Fawkes? Who helped him? Was he really a traitor?

Bonfires and fireworks

Very soon, you will find the answers to all of these questions in our blog, plus some bonus, like information on the breathtakingly beautiful city of York, home of Guy Fawkes.

York Minster

So, remember, remember,
The fifth of November
The Gunpowder treason and plot;
I know of no reason
why the Gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot!
